~ Yoga + Juice-A-teria ~

St. Maarten has a new place to socialize, dine healthily and workout, all in one! Many (including myself) are so excited for the opening of Joga – St. Maarten's first yoga studio of its kind. The masterminds behind Joga are long-time friends Jolanda and Melinda who decided to take their mutual love for yoga to a whole other level. This fantastic idea was born in December and everything has flowed to make it a dream come true. Joga is perfectly located in the Lagoon View building, above Panlaan restaurant. Enjoy your yoga classes indoors or outdoors with the gorgeous views of the lagoon and hills.

Opening officially next Monday, April 20, Joga will be offering various styles of yoga classes including hot yoga, hatha, restorative, yoga for athletes, kids yoga and more. Workshops, guided meditations and other wellness seminars are also offered.

Juice-A-Teria

Before or after a great workout, you can nourish your body with some super healthy fresh foods; there are going to be some great and tasty choices but the best part is that they are all good for you. The Juice-A-Teria restaurant will feature pre-packaged raw, vegetarian, vegan, paleo and gluten free specialties. Delicious and nutritious smoothies and fresh cold-pressed juices will also be available. Tea Infusions and Espresso will also be available when the Juice-A-Teria opens in early May.

Nowhere else on the island yet serves cold pressed juices which boast the highest nutritional content possible; juices are extracted using a hydraulic press which yields more vitamins, trace minerals, enzymes, and other vital elements from fruits and vegetables than traditional juicers. You can conveniently take the packaged menu items with you after your classes or you have the option of dining on the al fresco terrace and enjoying the lagoon view.

There's more; the latest and cutest yoga gear, outfits, mats and just about anything related to yoga you can think of will be available at Joga! Of all the things Joga is, this is first and foremost a place of unity. This is a labour of love, where Jolanda and Melinda hope that anyone interested in, or educated in yoga and all that is related with it may visit. It is a welcoming place, to find peace, health and vitality. "Joga's mission is to form a community where we can all learn, teach and share the love of yoga." The classes offered are as varied as the teachers from all over the world who have found their way to the island.

Whether you are new to yoga or not, Joga offers beginner classes, as well as Intro to Yoga workshops. If you are looking to work up a sweat, join one of the power vinyasa classes or hot yoga sessions. Want to find peace? Attend one of their yoga nidra meditations. But one thing is for sure at Joga; you will find a class or workshop that is just right for you. Single classes as well as multiple class cards are offered and private lessons are also available in the studio or in the privacy of your own home. Check out Joga's class schedule here, but you can visit them online and even pre-reserve classes on their website: www.jogasxm.com

Here is a taste of Monday's class schedule:

9:00-10:15am with Deanna, Slow (Hot)

11:00-12:00pm with Nikola, Hatha

5:00-6:15pm with Dinah, Flow

6:30-7:35pm with Deanna, Hot Detox

My take on Joga is that it's a place of health, but also another way to socialize with others in a very positive setting. Whether you are starting or ending your day at Joga, it's a new place to definitely nourish your body and soul and definitely lessen your stress. St. Maarten gladly welcomes Joga. Health & Beauty wishes this new establishment a lot of success and I cannot wait till the Juice-A-Teria opens in May!

Take advantage of Joga's OPENING SPECIAL: Be the first person to sign up for any one of the four classes (offered on Monday, April 20) and you will get that class FREE.

Joga is located on 16 Welfare Drive #2B, Cole Bay, at Lagoon View building, behind CIBC FirstCaribbean Bank - above Panlaan Thai Restaurant. Contact info: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or 544-1555. Visit http://JogaSXM.com/
