Getting back on track after Carnival!

1

Hi, my name is Desiree Winkel, owner and founder of Fitness Coaching. I've been working for years now with Martijn Steffens, a manual therapist who runs his office in the same studio as mine. We work with clients, who are in pain, need to exercise and want to get healthy.

Like any other business here in Sint Maarten, it has been more quiet then normal around this carnival period. I totally understand why, starting with the fact that we have to dig deeper into our wallets because there is finally so much to do with all these free days – and no time for gym.

We have been drinking, partying and playing around with foods we normally do not take every day – at least not in these amounts. But guess what?! Playtime is over. Time to get serious. That is, if you want to look your best around Christmas... Yes, Christmas! You think it's far away but before you know it, we are busy preparing dinners and decorating the Christmas tree. To wake you up; it's about seven months from now!

If you'd really like to change your habits and look your best in that period, then this is the moment to get really serious about it. No, don't worry; you don't have to change your whole lifestyle and routine. Just a little. Success comes to them who make minor changes in the beginning and work themselves up to their goal. Trust me. I have seen them coming into my personal training studio telling me they'd like to train five days a week, but I advise most clients not to start out like that. It's just a lot of experience I have that people hardly EVER maintain their workout schedule like that – too fast, too much, too much of it all.

The ones who really succeed in my personal training studio are those who make training a habit like brushing their teeth, going to work or watching TV. I hardly see them more than three times a week, but they are ALWAYS there and if they miss one time, they feel guilty and bad. So we must understand that training and setting goals have to be done slowly.

Concerning food changes, how simple is it to replace your soda with water at least three times a day! Use less sugar (the #1 killer) and make smarter choices eating smaller meals more often. The moment people think about changing their lifestyle a little, they get scared and frustrated or use their best excuse: "I do not have time." Remember when you fell in love and had this crazy, busy lifestyle where you never had time for anything... Then after you fell in love, you had time forever with your new lover, days lasted longer and you were never too tired to do anything.

Try to look at your new fitness goal like a new lover; butterflies in your stomach; placing pictures on the fridge and above your bed. It's your goal with that new lover to make your relationship work; do the same for your fitness goal – MAKE IT WORK! You will be so amazed how you feel when you wake up in the morning full of energy, smiling at the day. People will literally ask you what you are doing because you are glowing with happiness.

Setting a fitness goal and working towards that goal is the BEST medicine you can imagine. You feel fitter; you have less pains; you are happier; you sleep better and you look better. WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT?!!

If you need any help with setting those goals, let me be your guide. Let me help you. We make training programs for you if you just want to work out on your own, but do start. It's never too late if you are 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 or even 80. IT'S NEVER TOO LATE!

Conclusion: Spend time, change habits and live happy for you and your child. Let me help you!
