Fittest on the Rock!

love-burpees-"Fittest on the Rock" is Team Don't Quit's first event as an official foundation and will take place on May 30 at 10:00am at the Blue Mall in Cupecoy.

Team Don't Quit became an official foundation in 2014. The aim of the foundation is to promote health and fitness on St. Maarten and to encourage individuals to lead a healthier and more active lifestyle. The Team's founders and supporters post recipes, workout routines, fitness challenges, progress photos and more, and often provide personal coaching to one another in the drive for a healthy and fit lifestyle.

Featuring local and foreign athletes, Fittest on the Rock is a strength and endurance workout competition in which the participants will do various workouts. The expectation is that there will be at least 100 participants competing before a crowd of some 500-1,000 individuals who will attend the event throughout the course of the day.

Participants include but are not limited to athletes from organizations such as Axylum Crossfit SXM, Transpharmers Anguilla, Dungeonaire Gym Anguilla, Team Don't Quit, SXM Fitness and members of the local gyms. Participants from the neighbouring islands of Aruba, St. Kitts, St. Eustatius and Anguilla are also anticipated.

So much will be going on! International calisthenics athletes such as Kenneth Gallarzo (progressive_calisthenics on Instagram), Jen Esqeur (jen_es_care on Instagram), Jay (jay_barstarzz on Instagram) and Jason Bonham (jasoncalisthenics on Facebook), will give a demonstration to the crowd. There will be booths from different entrepreneurs, businesses and organizations so that participants and the audience will be able to purchase items. Expect to see gyms, nutritional store representatives, food vendors and vendors selling fitness related products.

Fittest on the Rock is open to the general public. Entrance is free. A $10 sign-up fee is required for each participant. A DJ will provide entertainment for both days; but now to the serious stuff – the Competition!
