For Kids at SXM BJJ!
SXM BJJ is proud to offer Muay Thai Kickboxing classes for kids age 8+ on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-5:50pm in Cole Bay.
What is Muay Thai? Muay Thai is the National sport of Thailand. It is known as "the art of eight limbs," because it uses both fists, elbows, knees and shins. Punching and kicking is just one aspect within the art of Muay Thai; discipline, respect, humility and courage are the most important lessons that every Muay Thai kid must learn.
Muay Thai is one of the oldest Martial Arts and is traditionally taught at an early age to the children of Thailand to help all children learn the skills that will help them develop into a person of integrity and inner strength.
St. Maarten's Sensei Marco London and Sensei Akeem Lewis have a very important rule for all Muay Thai kids, teens and adults. Muay Thai is only allowed to be used in the dojo and for self defence. If any student uses Muay Thai to bully or intimidate another person, he or she is immediately kicked out of the programme.
Bruce Lee once stated, "The individual is more important than any style." Thus the key in any martial art is not how many punches or kicks one can execute, but rather how martial arts can help improve one's life.
Classes with Sensei Akeem Lewis take place at SXM BJJ, 15 Wellington Road in Cole Bay. Starting September 2, every Monday and Wednesday from 5:00 to 5:50pm for kids ages 8-14; and Tuesday and Thursday at 7:00pm for adults and teens 14+.
Classes with Sensei Marco London take place at Milton Peters College on Monday and Wednesday at 7:30pm.
