Lions 2015-2016 Peace Poster Contest
Young people are encouraged to express their visions of peace through art in the Lions International Peace Poster Contest. Lions clubs around the world proudly sponsor the contest in local schools and youth groups.
Theme: Share Peace
Eligible participants: Students ages 11 -13
Submission deadline: Drawings must be submitted to St. Maarten Lions Club by October 31.
Date of contest: November 15
Art: Participants use a variety of mediums, including charcoal, crayon, pencil and paint, to express a different theme about peace each year. The works vary greatly and reflect the young artists' life, experiences and culture.
Local Artist Help: Students will be given tips and will be mentored by local artists. The winning poster, representing St. Maarten, will be selected by renowned artists Max Phelipa, Loic Bryant, Youmay Dormoy and Lucinda Audain. St. Maarten's entry will compete to represent District 60B and hopefully appear in the Lions International Peace Poster competition.
Global: Judges from the art, media, youth development and humanitarian communities select 24 international finalists representing the more than 350,000 children who participate annually. Posters are shared globally via the Internet, social media, news outlets and traveling exhibits.
