Carib Swim Team wins first meet of the season

swim_1COLE BAY-- Carib Swim Team (CST) won the first home meet of the season, the Corail Helicopters Fall Meet on Sunday.  A total of 718 points were up for grabs from the individual and relay races. CST won with 416 points.
Four teams battled it out in a highly competitive series of races which saw some of the closest finishes ever remembered at the pool. In addition to CST there were Super Splash Swim Team (SSST), Sharks Swim Team (Sharks) and LAB Sports.
The field consist of more than 80 swimmers ranging in age from 6 to 52 years.
In second place were SSST, in third Sharks and in fourth place, but also with the smallest team, LAB.
CST Coach Megan Pittman said, “It was an excellent opening to the season, especially as we had over a dozen first-time competitors. CST swimmers are further ahead at this point than I had anticipated which is promising for the rest of the season.”
Each athlete swam three individual races between 25m and 200m from the four competitive strokes and individual medley as well as one relay. Two exhibition relays, (SSST and CST) were also swum with mixed girl and boy teams. All Teams were represented during the medal ceremony but special congratulations go to the following 11 swimmers who won gold in all three of their individual races.
Girls:  Arianna Lont (8) Sharks, Chloe Boecasse (10) CST, Emma Marshall 12 (CST), Naima Dessout (13) CST, Charlotte Backovic (17) CST and Isabel Adams (masters) CST.
Boys:  Maxime Gibbs (6) CST, Benjamin Pocovi (10) CST, Keanu Jacobs-Guishar (13) SSST, Rashad Peterson (14) CST and Sharmar Thomas (15) Sharks.
Training continues in earnest for all swimmers.
The next CST home meet is the Ballerina Sweetheart Meet in February. Next month, a small number of CST swimmers are going to the Aruba 21st Invitational meet, then there is the SSST two-day international meet at the CST pool in November and St Barth’s Coupe de Noel in December.
